AJWI-Visions of Peace Initiative, a nonprofit organization that has organized over 100 events in Indonesia involving thousands of young people, launched the Interfaith Golden Rule Youth Conference in Surakarta and Bali.
The Interfaith Golden Rule Youth Peace Conference attracted hundreds of children from different faiths, interfaith leaders, and artists. The conference opened with a screening of the film "The Golden Rule: Do Unto Others..." by Princess Cheryl Halpern, Princess Natasha Dematra, and Alex Dolginko, a documentary about the Golden Rule.
This film is often credited with transforming nations. The film is a collaboration between the award-winning American production team HQ Creative, Angel Pictures (award-winning Indonesian production team), and Visions of Peace Initiative.
Furthermore, the youth were invited to discuss the "Golden Rule" and their vision and mission for a better world. This open discussion took place between students and interfaith leaders.
The event also paid tribute to Prince Dr. Damien Dematra, the "Prince of Peace," founder of the Visions of Peace Initiative, who passed away in Bali on April 27, 2025, just one day before the first Golden Rule Interfaith Youth Conference was held in Bali. The Prince of Peace's resounding voice, heard in his tribute video, shouting "Peace!" resonated loudly and moved the audience.
In her remarks, Princess Natasha Dematra, Executive Director of VOPI and daughter of the late Prince Dr. Damien Dematra, said, "This conference is my father's legacy, which he hope will shape Indonesia's young generation into a generation of peacemakers and tolerant individuals. He always hoped that peace would continue to resonate regardless of an individual's religion or race."
This interfaith youth conference was first held in Bali on April 28, 2025, and was attended by hundreds of children from different faiths and interfaith leaders.
The Visions of Peace Initiative was first founded by Princess Cheryl Halpern, along with the late Prince Dr. Damien Dematra. This organization is known as a non-profit organization focused on promoting peace and tolerance among young people through art. VOPI has received eight Nobel Peace Prize nominations.
VOPI's mission is to promote tolerance by teaching the Golden Rule: "Treat others as you would like to be treated, and do not treat others as you would not want to be treated." Using all artistic modalities, VOPI strives to encourage young people to express their vision of a peaceful future and promote peace, tolerance, and understanding.
"Hopefully, this conference can change the lives of many people and make this world a better place. The young generation is the vanguard in making this world a more tolerant and peaceful one," said Princess Natasha Dematra.
